What Is Social Value?
In construction, social value refers to the practical benefits a project brings to the local area once the build is complete. It’s about thinking beyond the physical structure and considering how the project supports the community, local economy, and environment. This might mean hiring local workers, offering apprenticeships, working with nearby suppliers, or designing spaces that are healthier and more sustainable. In short, social value is about making sure a project leaves the area better off in real, measurable ways not just with a new building, but with lasting local benefits.

We keep our supply chain close to home. By using local suppliers, we make sure the money invested in our projects stays in the Greater Manchester economy. We’re also transparent about our impact; we track our carbon tonnage and maintain a carbon score. It’s about being smart with our resources and honest about our footprint.
All of our team lives & works right here in Greater Manchester, and we think they deserve a workplace that actually looks after them. As supporters of the Greater Manchester Employment Charter, we don't just talk about "good jobs", we commit to them through fair pay, proper security and a culture that supports our staff rather than just ticking boxes. These values are being instilled into the next generation of surveyors through our training of a T-Level placement student from our local college.
Our ties to the community are personal. Whether it’s our Managing Director, Nick serving as a school parent governor or our sponsorship of Murron Alldread, a Bury FC Women’s team player. As a local business it is important we play an active part in our community. We don‘t see these roles as purely corporate social responsibility projects, they’re just causes we care about in the places we work.
